Arts

Our Arts team makes the cards (handmade and E-cards) and crafts we send out to children’s hospitals.

The volunteers on this team do not have to have previous art experience, but should be willing to put in their best efforts into designing cards/crafts for patients. We filter all artwork and reserve the right to select certain artwork to deliver to patients in order to maintain quality of services.

Events

Fundraising

Our Events team members bring their personality and creativity to make patients smile. Members may be asked to design holiday-themed care packages, film inspirational videos for patients, participate in game nights, or run in virtual 5K's. However, most enticing, these volunteers get to interact with patients over personalized Zoom events filled with conversation and games! Note: our events and fundraising team is combined, so fundraising service opportunities are also sent to this team.

Our Fundraising team is combined with our Events team and is key in raising money for GENELegacy Corporation. This team participates in corporate fundraisers to sell items, power hours to outreach for donations, and more.

The volunteers on this team should know how to utilize their connections in order to escalate GLC's donations.

Arts Volunteer Description

Participants in this section of our organization are expected to make cards, other crafts such as bookmarks, bracelets, or coloring pages, and possibly design digital flyers for individual cancer patients and our hospital partners.

Once you sign up to join our arts team Remind our Executive Team will post opportunities every 2nd Monday. The document she sends will include all instructions—e.g. how and where to send the cards, what to include on them, etc.—and service hour details.

Events Volunteer Description

Our events are the primary way we connect with patients, spread awareness about our organization, and advocate for change in health policies pertaining to pediatric genetic disorders. Some examples of events we have are Zoom events with patients, creating holiday-themed care packages, and engaging in awareness events.

Once you sign up to join our events team Remind, you will be notified of all events and fundraisers we have throughout each year by either us, or your chapter head (our events and fundraising teams are combined). You can then decide if you would like to participate in that one or not, but remember that you can make a bigger impact the more events you participate in! There is usually a GLC event/fundraiser twice a month.

If you are participating in an event, our heads will explain what you will be doing for us at that event. Most often, you will be spreading the message about GENELegacy Corporation or helping us advocate for change regarding childhood genetic disorders laws and funds.

Fundraising Volunteer Description

Fundraisers are the way GLC funds all of our programs, making this section of our organization vital.

Once you sign up to join our fundraiser team Remind, you will be notified of all events and fundraisers we have throughout each year. You can then decide if you would like to participate in that one or not; all registration information and details will be sent out by our Executive Team.

If you are participating in a fundraiser, our heads will explain what you will be doing to help increase our donations. Most often, you will have to reach out to friends and family asking them if they'd like to donate or purchase a good where a % of profits goes to us. However, other fundraisers might only require you to share a post or message.

This team is combined with events, meaning you'll be receiving both Events and Fundraising service opportunities!

You can also host a fundraiser for us if you don't want to start a full chapter or participate in one of our current fundraisers. From birthday party fundraisers to lemonade stands, hosting a fundraiser for GLC helps change lives. Some fundraiser ideas to get you started are:

1. Start a GoFundMe for GENELegacy Corporation as apart of your birthday gift list for your guests, or simply send your guests our donation page so they can make a donation through our website.

2. Involve your school, peers or club to start a jog-a-thon where participants can get pledges for the amount of miles they run.

3. Something as simple as starting a lemonade stand or selling crafts to raise money for GENELegacy Corporation make a huge impact!

Email us with any questions, or if you need help with your fundraiser. We would love to provide you with examples of benefits you'd receive if you host one for us to support patients worldwide.

Start a fundraiser today to join our mission in providing kids with genetic disorders with a chance at a normal childhood.
